woxihuanchirenrou asked: I'm going to be cosplaying as Japan. I'm wondering whether or not I should wear makeup. I am Asian and I look rather Japanese (even though I am Chinese!), and I don't feel comfortable wearing makeup (things like not being able to touch it up later in the day, I don't wear it on a regular basis so I'm not good at this stuff), but I see that in most cosplays, the cosplayer wears makeup. Is it necessary or should I just go without?
Make up is a really great way to smooth out everyone’s complexion and have their face look finished and not shiny in photos (and we do mean everyone). Personally, we would recommend it, just concealer and a bit of powder since you are going to be wanting a natural look and something simple to do, and looking up tutorials (or we can provide some if you would like, we’d be glad to!) and practicing before the convention. (Practice does make perfect!)
If you still don’t feel comfortable doing this (and don’t feel pressured into wearing it, we want you to be comfortable!) we would recommend buying some oil absorbing sheets and carrying them around, they’re a great and quick way to keep your face feeling fresh and looking nice in photos :)
Hope this helps!
