Anonymous asked: Hi there - your blog is fantastic! I have a few questions. We will be doing the chibitalies for the first time and were wondering 1. Makeup - we want it to be cute but are concerned with being too feminine. 2. When it comes to prestyled/styling wigs yourself, do you think one is better than the other? and 3. I will be doing Chibitalia and have light eyes. I'm sort of on the fence about brown contacts -- do you think its necessary? Thanks so much in advance, this blog is so helpful!
Thank you for liking it! And you’re in luck, Mod 2 cosplays Chibitalia.
For makeup, I usually do very minimal, fresh makeup, with an emphasis on rosy cheeks. You can line your eyes with eyeliner, but use a light brown to do so and nothing dark. If you want, you can use mascara to pop out your eyes a bit more, but use it very lightly—no clumpy eyelashes. (Mod 1 says: If you’re doing the Chibitalies I think it’s alright to be a bit more feminine with your make up, if only because they are presumed to be girls.)
As for styling wigs, I recommend you do it yourself considering the curl. For the curl itself, try getting an extension hair piece (sold at any wig store) in a near matching or slightly lighter color than your wig. Grab some jewelry wire in a color close to your wig, bend it to the shape you want, and then using glue (Elmer’s white glue works best and dries clear, it’s what punks used to use to achieve mohawks) and patience, sort of fold the hair extension piece around the wire until you have it coated. Dry it with a hair dryer on low heat. Leave enough wire to work as a sort of headband for your head and thread through your wig base. Voila! A very nice looking curl without having to braid. (Mod 1: there’s a post about this farther back under the ‘cosplay tips’ tag if you’d like to look, though I think Mod 2’s said most of it here)
Also, I chose to go for contacts for my Chibitalia. No one will honestly notice that you have them, but I figure people will notice if I’m walking around with blue eyes, haha. It’s up to you though! (Mod 1: I have dark brown eyes and wear green contacts for my cosplays and no one usually notices I wear them, but trust me, they make a difference, haha. And remember, the little things count!)
I hope this helps!
